Taking pictures in black and white shades of grey help define the picture. It allows the tone to be almost mysterious and dark and ominous. You can see the way subjects look and you can see the way that the picture is in certain lighting especially in dark place. It gives a very mature feel to your image when using black and white. This allows the picture to also have mystery on what a subject is. A very aesthetic way to take images.
